Two Stormchaser UK team members traveled to Florida to intercept Hurricane Wilma. An early arrival into Tampa Florida allowed our team to conduct a pre storm survey as well as interviews with locals preparing for the approaching Hurricane. Filming locations were found in Naples and Fort Myers, with Stuart and Alister eventually opting to stay overnight in Fort Myers. During the evening and night they documented the arrival of the Hurricane shooting both High definition video and still photographs. Video news feeds were provided using ftp and the internet throughout the night and the following day. At day break the strongest winds hit, reaching sustained speeds well over 80mph, gusting to over 100mph. Hurricane Wilma was a category 3 Hurricane when she hit Florida, prior to hitting Florida she had hit Cancun and Cozumel as a category 5 Hurricane. You can read a full account of the hurricane chase in the weather forum. Both Stuart and Alister made several TV and Radio appearances prior, during and after this devastating weather event.
