HD Shorts and Budget HD Production
Do you need help producing an HD short or low budget HD film? We have the tools and expertise to help. Our Sony F350 HD XDCAM camcorders are capable of producing stunning HD images that really look and behave like film, but without the massive expense. The Sony F350 can shoot at any frame rate from 1fps to 60fps so 24fps is easy as is slow motion and timelapse. The F350 can shoot either progressive or interlaced HD frames and has a wide range of gamma and matrix settings for full film emilation. We have an adapter that allows Digi-Prime lenses to be used and other adapters are availble for 35mm film lenses. The F350 can record 24 frames per second, just like film. It has a special progressive mode that creates frames that behave like progressive frames, again much like film. It can be used with a mini35 adapter and prime lenses. This gives that wonderful narrow depth of field that is the big difference between film and video. The prime lenses can be either true (expensive) film lenses or much cheaper 35mm stills lenses, the effect is the same and in most cases you would be hard pushed to tell the difference, but the stills lenses are inexpensive. If your shoot is studio based then we can use a PC to capture the full 10 bit uncompressed HD stream from the Sony's HD SDi output, this gives stunning full resolution uncompressed HD images that rival the very expensive HDCAM SR format.
Once filming is completed the footage is transferred to our HD edit suite. We can mix both the uncompressed HD SDi footage and the recorded XDCAM or HDV streams in the same projects without any problems. Magic Bullet allows us to adjust the video clips to match various film stocks and a wide range of colour correction and grading tools allow us to complete a full grade, giving your production a truly filmic look. Finally we can export the finished programme out to the format of you choice, from HDV to HDCAM or even uncompressed on a hard drive. From there you can have you production transferred to film for theatrical release. All this can be done at normal video production rates. Filming starts at just £450.00 per day including basic lighting and sound kit, 10 days is just £4000.00 Editing is the same price, so in many cases you could produce a typical short for around £5,400 (3 days shooting, 10 days editing). Of course if you want the mini35 with prime lenses it's a little more expensive. We have been producing videos for nearly 20 years. We have an excellent grasp of what can be achieved with low cost production equipment. We understand the whole process from shoot through edit to film out and we have the technology here ready to go.
